Jagat Narula, MD, PhD
Dr. Jagat Narula is Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Irvine, where he is also the chief of division of cardiology. He is involved in clinical and basic research in the fields of heart failure and atherosclerosis with major emphasis on development of novel noninvasive imaging techniques. He has made vital contributions to the imaging of apoptotic form of cell death in heart muscle and atherosclerotic plaques that are vulnerable to rupture and acute coronary events. His research has been funded, in part, by several NIH grants.
Dr. Narula has authored 300 research publications and edited 25 books or journal supplements. He has been awarded as the 'best young investigator' by the Cardiovascular Council and the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology for his research contributions. He serves on various committees of the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Journal of the American College of Cardiology- Cardiovascular Imaging and an associate editor of Journal of the American College of Cardiology. He was the founding Editor of Heart Failure Clinics of North America.
