Manuel Cerqueira, MD
Manuel Cerqueira, MD, is Chairman of Nuclear Medicine in the Imaging Institute and a Staff Cardiologist in the Heart and Vascular Institute at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH. He is certified in internal medicine, nuclear medicine, cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology. Dr. Cerqueira has a special clinical and research interest in using cardiovascular imaging methods to identify patients with coronary artery disease and those at high risk for having heart attacks or dying from a cardiac cause.
For his clinical research efforts, he has received the Bertram M. Gesner Memorial Award for Research in Immunology and the Evelyn Gayner Memorial Award from the Society for the Study of Blood. Dr. Cerqueira is a Founding Member of the American Society of Nuclear Cardiology and received the Distinguished Service Award 2000.
Currently, Dr. Cerqueira is a grant reviewer for the National Institutes of Health. He works in many capacities with the Journal of Nuclear Cardiology, the American Journal of Cardiology, the American Journal of Roentgenology, the Journal of the American College of Cardiology, and the European Journal of Nuclear Medicine, among others. He is widely published authoring or co-authoring more than 150 articles, 26 book chapters and 75 abstracts on issues related to clinical and research findings.
